Devilishly Delicious Dane
Landon Martin spots a guy standing in the street, handing out donuts with a big smile on his face. Intrigued, he stalks the fellow back to his donut truck. Lucky for him, the man with the big smile and the sun-created halo had spotted him, too.
Dane Dawson is new in town but he’s making a name for himself with Devilishly Delicious Donuts. While handing out samples at the Oakton spring street fair, it's his good luck that the sexy man he spotted follows him back to the food truck.
Donuts lead to dinner, and more, but when Landon overhears a bit of gossip, he has to step back and discover if devilishly delicious Dane deserves his halo.
Devilishly Delicious Dane is a light, almost angst-free read, with a happy ending.
EXCERPT - first kiss
I was grateful I didn’t have anything in my mouth or I may have choked, and that wouldn’t be a good look at all. Dane was a flirt and I appreciated it. Flirting was fun. I cleared my throat.
“You think that, do you?”
“You’re holding my hand.”
I shook my head. “I thought you were doing the hand-holding.
You’re making it difficult for either of us to eat lunch. I don’t do so well
one-handed.”
He smiled and let go of me. “Shot down by a technicality.”
I pulled our lunches from the bag and handed one of the
wraps to him. They did smell delicious. “Eat your lunch, Dane.”
He chuckled softly and took a bite of his wrap. I tore mine
in half before I took a bite. I liked to eat a wrap from the inside out and
leave the tougher ends.
Dane downed a swig of his soda. “What do you want to do
after we eat?”
I was delighted he wanted to spend more time together. I
reached for my tea. “Do you ride bikes?”
“Nope.”
That was disappointing, but maybe it was because he didn’t
own one. “How about a movie?”
It was his turn to shake his head. “Nothing playing I want
to pay to see. I know it’s out of fashion, but the superhero stuff doesn’t
excite me. I like film noir, to be honest.”
I didn’t care for the comic book heroes, either, but Bogart
and Bacall? Count me in.
“I like film noir, too, but you have to wait until
fall before the local theater has the Sunday afternoon Noir Fest.” I sipped my
tea and had an idea. “Well, then donut-boy, why don’t we take a leisurely
stroll around the park, find a bench, and watch the waterfowl?”
He smiled, his eyes lighting with mirth. “Perfect.”
The man was a flirt and a romantic. I’d remember
that.
We settled down to eat and he was correct. The wrap was
fresh and delicious, and the bag had a QR code on it for those who wanted to
get the app for the schedule of where the food truck would be the next day plus
the daily menu, so I loaded the app on my phone.
Finished with lunch, I stood and held my hand out to him. He
got up and rubbed his flat belly before taking my hand. “That was good. Thank
you, Landon.”
I tossed our trash in the bin and led him to the paved
walkway, taking a counter-clockwise route to walk the perimeter of the lake. He
lagged behind me for a moment.
“What?”
He blinked and tried to look innocent. “Um, nice jeans?”
I rolled my eyes. “You looked at my butt. Tell the truth.”
Dane grinned and remained silent. I laughed softly. “You’re
a nutter.”
“But you ‘get’ me, Landon. Don’t say you don’t.”
Maybe I did. I gave him a little side hug as we turned to
cross a small bridge and then step down into an almost hidden garden. This area
was where the spring that fed the lake was located and there were a few trout
lurking in the deep pool of crystal-clear water. We stopped and leaned on the
rail to watch them.
It was peaceful standing beside him, but anticipation zinged
along my nerves. I slipped my arm around his waist and he turned to face me. I ran
my thumb over his lips. I’d never find a more romantic spot for a first kiss.
He licked his lips, the tip of his pink tongue flashing. He
met my gaze and then I don’t know which of us moved. Maybe we both did.
Dane’s lips were soft and warm as they met mine, tentative
and sweet. There was no pressure to arouse but heat jolted through me and was
quick to settle low in my balls. My dick swelled and I couldn’t stop it. He
sucked in a sudden breath and jerked, ending the kiss. Instead of pulling back,
he wrapped his arms around my neck to hug me. Pressed chest to chest and thigh
to thigh, we held each other and I realized he, too, was hard.
He toyed with the fringe of hair on the back of my neck, his
fingertips soft against my skin. I didn’t want to break the spell, to step back
into reality, but we had to at some point. We couldn’t stand in this peaceful
glade forever.
