In the middle of the night - Sumner's Garden blurb

November 6, 2023

Generally speaking, I don't like it when I wake up in the middle of the night. I'm not one of those who can easily go back to sleep. Hindering that is Deuce, who knows if Mommy is awake he can get a pee-pee break. After getting up and letting him go out, I'm more likely to reach for my Kindle and read when I crawl under the covers again.

Last night was an exception. I woke around three-ish and had an epiphany. I don't know if I dreamed it or if my subconscious had been working on it these past weeks. Perhaps I had to let my brain settle down after working the last six weeks. I don't know and I don't much care. I woke and the cover blurb for Sumner's Garden was there.

Did I jump out of bed and run to the computer? Nope. Consequently, it was mid-afternoon before I remembered I had to sit down and commit it to paper. Author's brains work in mysterious ways.

I'm hopeful that now I can do the last read-through and finally get Sumner's Garden published. The cover blurb, and work, had me stalled. This story has been a long time coming, and I can't wait to get it on my Kindles for late-night reading.

_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_

About Sumner's Garden:

Runaway. Drifter. Andy Pulaski made choices.

Fate can rule with a gentle hand, and one bright summer day she deposited Andy Pulaski in Sumnerville. Needing to work to earn enough money to get to the next stop in his journey, Andy hires on with Tom Sumner to help the older man on his homestead. Andy may be a drifter, but he’s frequented public libraries and educated himself. He looks at every stop he makes as an opportunity to learn. Things are looking up and Andy may stay longer than the agreed two weeks.

Rafe Sumner isn’t too happy about his Uncle Tom hiring a scruffy drifter. He’s been Tom’s helper all his life even if he doesn’t always see eye-to-eye with his uncle. He doesn’t get along with his mother, either. He knows his father’s last name wasn’t Sumner and he knows the truth is out there somewhere. He just can’t find it.

Andy and Rafe develop a grudging respect for each other while working for Tom. It could be that what they’re seeking is right in front of them. All they have to do is look beyond what happens between them at night.

_*_*_This work contains sexual situations and is intended for mature readers.

September Morning for MSS 158

September 10, 2016

Welcome to My Sexy Saturday here at the blog! I've been on vacation this past week, enjoying a few day trips around the county as a way to say goodbye to summer.

This is the 158th week of My Sexy Saturday, and the theme is a sexy dilemma. A sexy dilemma? Which book to chose for that one? I think it's pretty simple for this month: September Morning.

_*_*_*_*_

Nate’s hand was warm on my thigh. The heat snaked towards my balls, inducing the almost forgotten tingling. My cock swelled. I was speechless, amazed I could feel arousal again.

Part of me fought it, whispering that it was cheating on Michael. But it wasn’t. He was gone. Would he expect me to mourn him forever? I didn’t think he would, so why did I feel so guilty?

“Hey. JD. What gives?”

I shook my head. “It’s complicated. I wish it wasn’t.”

“The guy in the photo I noticed at your place the other morning? The one who looks like you? Was he your brother? He died, didn’t he?”

In many ways, he had been like a brother. That and so much more.

“Michael was my partner. I lost him last summer.”

_*_*_*_*_

About September Morning:

Following the death of his partner, Jagger Davis is on a sabbatical to finish healing and to get his life moving again. JD goes to Sandbridge, Virginia, for a restful summer of solitude and discovers the cottage next door is full of friendly neighbors. One in particular catches his interest.

Nate Fischer is part of a group of guys who spend every summer at Sandbridge. An IT specialist for a private contractor at the nearby Naval base, Nate’s taking some vacation time. When JD arrives, Nate invites him to a cookout on the beach. It isn’t long before Nate and JD are inseparable, but there are three men in the relationship.

JD’s memories are a constant companion. He won’t banish them to satisfy someone new. When Nate’s job abruptly calls him away, JD realizes he didn’t give his summer lover a fair chance. Now he has to convince Nate there’s room in his heart for both the past and the future.

Give Me One Night

August 1, 2016

Another new cover, and another second edition in the midst of being re-issued. Give Me One Night is the fourth contemporary gay romance I wrote. You may have noticed I've re-issued newer works first and am now down to my first novels, with the exception of Undeniable.

I loved the original cover for Give Me One Night. I could have recreated it, I did, in fact, try to do that very thing. It didn't work to my satisfaction, so I kept looking for the right guy and background.

Give Me One Night is now available at
AmazoniTunes/AppleBarnes and NobleKobo, and other online booksellers.

Enjoy!

T is for Time

Day 20
April 23, 2016
2016 A to Z Blogging Challenge
It’s All About Time Squared

I wish I were a great brain and could really understand Einstein's theory on the space-time continuum. Einstein's theory of relativity states that time and space are not constant, and the only true constant is the speed of light.

O-kaaay.

It seems like Star Trek did, on the one hand teach me something, and on the other hand leave my education seriously lacking. I need something much simpler when it comes to time. I need more of it.

As much as I’d like to say I never “waste” time, that would be a lie. I waste time every day, in one fashion or another, but I survive it because I have a positive relationship with it.

Time is a tool I use to live my life. Time doesn’t use me. I like it that way.

“Step into Christmas with me…”

December 2, 2015

The Insecure Writer’s Support Group

“…so hop aboard the turntable and step into Christmas with me!”

That’s my nod to Sir Elton John. It’s a line from my fave Christmas song from 1973, Step Into Christmas. It plays as well today as it did forty-two years ago. Happy. Upbeat. Downright freakin’ cheerful. Just like the holiday season…

Every year the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are like the BLACK HOLE THAT KILLS WRITING. Maybe it only attacks me, but I suspect it sucks in many, many, many writers.

Forward progress - halted.
Momentum - blasted to hell.
Productivity - squashed like a bug.

I try to enjoy the holidays but the fact that I’m not writing bothers the hell outta me. I’m busy at work and at home. The only thing I can do to work around the holidays is plan for the slowdown and plan for writing time. And once I have a bit of time blocked out on my calendar for WRITING, woe be on the head of anyone foolish enough to interrupt me.

It might sound strange I’ve had to resort to serious threats and tantrums just to write, but I use whatever means necessary to get the job done. Whatever means. What. Ever. Means.

There’s nothing insecure about it.

So Merry Christmas to you - and don’t bother me between six a.m. and noon on December 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2015. I’ll be writing.

IWSG - The Ruination That Is Multi-tasking

August 5, 2015

The Insecure Writer’s Support Group

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do,
once you find them

I’m going to date myself here. Those words are from the song “Time in a Bottle” by the late Jim Croce, circa 1973. The words are hauntingly prophetic considering Croce died at age thirty not long after the song was released.

If you do a search using the words 'time management for writers' you will find a plethora of information. Probably the most prevailing bit of wisdom says what you've already heard everywhere you've ever searched for tips for living the writing life - make time to write something every day. In my world, it’s more like make time to take care of the business of writing every day.

I used to try to do everything at once. I felt this incredible NEED to be able to write, to network, to do promotion, and cook dinner simultaneously. I tried, and I failed. Oh, boy did I fail. Miserably, too.

I’m not sure when it hit me that multi-tasking is not all it’s touted to be. I’m just grateful I realized it before it killed me. Why did I have to do all of it every day? Who said I needed to drive myself insane?

If there was ever a time I was riddled with writer’s insecurity it was when I let multi-tasking rule my life. I put so much effort into reading posts in Yahoo groups and wondering how in the world those people had time to make so many friends in the chat rooms AND write a book. They were doing it so I felt like I had to do it or I’d fall behind. Why did I need to compare myself to them?

It wasn’t until I quit writing for about three months that I came to the conclusion some of that crappy so-called “writer’s wisdom” is very Darwin-esque. The truly insecure and wicked put it out there to weed out the weak and set them up to fail. People, that behavior will not help you be a better writer.

What will help is FOCUS.

If you need to improve your technical skills, FOCUS on that first for a while. If you need to finish a chapter, FOCUS on that and to heck with facebook for an evening or two. If your next new release is scheduled and you need to beef up your Twitter followers, FOCUS on that for a designated space of time.

Listen to the inner voice. It’ll tell you where your energy needs to be applied. Let it guide to the most important thing you have to do or learn today, and then give it your all. You might be surprised what you can accomplish if you scale the writing mountain one step at a time.

Contemporary gay romance

Dalton makes Reed tingle in all the right places. Now Reed’s ready to answer the question that’s haunted his every failed relationship. Is he really gay?

Reed walked into Dalton’s life and everything changed. This time, Dalton won’t hide the fact he’s gay from anyone, even his son.

Together they surrender all to each other and claim the ultimate victory - love.

EXCERPT

We tapped our shot glasses together and downed the golden-brown nectar in unison. Funny how I’d never cared too much for the stuff and now I liked it. Dalton flopped down on the bed beside me. My gaze dropped to his groin.

He shook his head. “First, I have a question.”

“Shoot.”

He grinned, showing even white teeth. “Does the elder Mr. Kauffman know you’re gay?”

I snorted. “What makes you think I’m gay? Because I’m naked in bed with another man?”

“Well, Reed, that is sorta my first clue.”

The nervous tapping of his left index finger drew me. “If you want a cigarette, go get one.”

Dalton shot me a sideways glance. “I’ve had my one for today. I’ve come this far to quitting, I’m not backsliding now.”

It didn’t seem wise to point out to him if he could get by on one a day he could get by on none. I chose a safer course. “Congratulations. It’s a tough addiction to break.”

“So is boffing guys up the ass. I’m not even going to think about rehabbing myself on that. Are you going to answer my question?”

“I wouldn’t want you to, and no, dear old Dad does not know for certain his heir likes boys,” I told him dryly.

“That’s not the talk.”

“Oh? That’s always been the talk, and I’m sure he’s heard it. That’s why, when I broke it off with the last girlfriend, his head exploded. The fallout of that eruption landed me out here where he doesn’t have to look at his ‘failure.’” I sighed and stroked his cheek with my knuckles.

“His loss.” Dalton propped up on his elbow and looked down at me, his face earnest in the light from the bathroom. “Do you think you’re a failure?”

“Because I’m gay?”

Jesus, I’d uttered those two syllables as though they were merely words and didn’t define my past, present and future all at once. I’d come a long way in the space of a few hours. Or had I? I’d been moving toward tonight for a long time.

Dalton splayed his hand in the center of my chest, his middle finger gently tapping the flat disk of my nipple.

“I’ve failed at a lot of things, but never at being me,” I said.

His face underwent a curious change, morphing from earnestly curious, to surprise, to something akin to pleasure, before turning sad.

“You’re one of the lucky ones then.” He trailed his hand down my torso to my belly button. I nipped his shoulder.

“Go lower, Dalton. Just a few inches lower.”

He pinned me to the bed with a quick, controlled roll, the move of a street fighter. A frisson of excitement, mixed with trepidation, swept me. Those large, calloused hands cupped my face.

“Reed, you have to be sure. If you’re not, we’ll call it a night.”

That notion scared me worse than anything he would physically do to me. If he backed off now, I’d never get this close to him again. The demons we both danced with would see to it.

Before I could answer, his mouth claimed mine, searing my lips as his fused to mine. My world reeled as his kiss stole my breath. His body covered mine, tense with the urgency of his desire and his demand. His intention was clear. He meant to have me before I could change my mind. I cupped his ass and pulled him closer.

A low moan rumbled in his chest as his arms held me still. My cock filled to bursting. He guided my hands to the headboard and I grasped the rail and held on as he licked his way down my chest.

Michael Brooks’ life took an unexpected direction when he found the Taylor mansion, a two-story Colonial perfect for a Bed & Breakfast. An untenured college professor, he suddenly became a successful entrepreneur. And best of all, he met sexy deputy Colin Jefferson and they hit it off in a big way. He’s even made friends with a ghost.

Deputy Colin Jefferson is dedicated to his career and to making a life with Michael. Serving the community he loves, he’s well aware of the stories that tell of the Taylor mansion being haunted. Now he’s living there with Michael and Colin knows the stories are true. There’s a ghost with a penchant for wearing denim lurking in his bedroom.

How the ghost came to live in at the B&B is a mystery Michael and Colin need to solve. It’s the only way for their resident spirit to find eternal rest. Until then, the ghost makes three.

THE GHOST MAKES THREE
The sequel to THE GHOST WORE DENIM

An excerpt:

The door opened and Colin came in carrying a small tray. “Who were you talking to?”
I hoped I didn’t look guilty as I flopped down onto the bed. I had to stop fibbing to my lover every time Robin was around.
“I was muttering to my pants. They kept falling off the hanger.”
Colin handed me a shot glass full of a dark amber liquid. He lifted his glass, tapped it against the rim of mine and with a quick flick of his wrist downed the contents. I echoed his action. The whiskey burned all the way down and after it hit bottom the heat rapidly spread through my entire body. Colin ran his index finger from the tip of my leaking cock to my aching balls.
“Now. What to do about this?”
“Anything. Something. I’ve been having a hard time trying to ignore it until you get naked and crawl into bed.”
I patted the spot beside me. His response was slip off his belt along with his holster and service revolver and hang them on a special hook in the closet. The one in the far corner, behind his shirts and out of sight. I idly stroked myself until I realized Robin was watching.
Drat him. How was I going to sneak up here in the middle of the day and masturbate with the ghost watching? Outsmarting him was going to take some serious planning.
Colin tossed his uniform in the basket the laundry service provided and stepped into the bathroom. I heard the shower come on. My heart rate kicked up a notch. Not long now. He always took a quick rinse before he came to me after being on duty – quick being the important thing. I glanced over at Robin.
He was now sitting with his arms wrapped around his knees, a satisfied grin on his face and looking entirely too human for my personal comfort. God, I hoped I could forget he was there. What if my erection faded and I couldn’t finish the job?
Fucking hell! What if I couldn’t even begin the job?
I wished I hadn’t had that thought. If it became a self-fulfilling prophecy, Colin would think he did something wrong and I’d have to let him or… Absolutely not. No way. There was no way in hell I could tell him that my failure was due to Robin’s presence in the room. He’d go ballistic for sure. Even worse, he’d probably leave and never come back.
I heard the shower cut off and in less than a minute a damp and clammy Colin joined me in the bed. I switched off the lamp and patted his belly. He covered my hand with his.
“I’m glad I’m here with you, Michael. I don’t mean to worry you by seeming distant or distracted. It’s just—”
"I get it, Colin. I really do. Your job is rewarding, but stressful.” I eased our joined hands down to his groin. “What you need is a little stress relief.”
He chuckled softly. With a quick, controlled motion he rolled and pinned me to the bed. His mouth took mine in a searing kiss that sent me soaring for several wonderful moments. Colin kissed my neck. His voice was rough in my ear.
“I need you, Michael. I want to feel you move inside me…”

So a guy buys a house and it has a resident ghost....

This is what I love about romance fiction. It's freakin' fun, baby! You can give a guy a career, a new house, the man of his dreams AND a resident ghost - and everyone is happy! Well, the ghost is a little unhappy he's a ghost, but he's not making a big fuss about it.

Spooky ghost stories? Not my thing. A ghost with his own ideas about sex? I can dig it.

The Ghost Makes Three by KC Kendricks and Christiane France.

Look for it the weekend of June 6 (or 7), 2015, at Amber Allure.
(It all depends when the powers that be a AQP push the button to make it live.

An excerpt is up on my website (please forgive the mess, I'm working on it).

Is it time for a change?

May 27, 2015

I've been debating whether or not to change the appearance of Between the Keys. This background, while I still like it, is feeling sort of old and tired. I've searched for just the right picture for the header but haven't had much success. That's led me to pondering the saying, "change for the sake of change."

Change for the sake of change is a trap we all fall into at some point in our life. We get restless. We don't even know why we crave something - anything - different. That may be the point I'm at with the background.

One of the problems is I want something classy and if you've looked at the blogger backgrounds.....   I know "classy" is in the eye of the beholder. To me, it would be a dark, rich color. What color? One that matches, or at least blends well, with this header photo I can't seem to find. I may have to resort to Photoshop to get what I want.

If I can figure out what that is.

Hmm. Maybe I'd better leave well-enough alone and avoid the change for the sake of change trap.

Undeniable a certified Bestseller at All Romance eBooks

May 20, 2015

There's no way to predict it. There's no magic bullet to make it happen. Hell, I don't even expect it to happen. Today, it did.

I had an email from All Romance eBooks. Huh, I thought. Should I open that? Well, I did. The email was from Julie. All you author types will know that name. She's in charge of marketing, etc.

Congratulations! Undeniable by KC Kendricks has just hit the Allromance.com Bestseller List! We've attached our ARe Bestseller graphic for your use. Please feel free to link it to the book's detail page: /product-undeniable-1806251-149.html.

Yea! This has only happened once before that I can recall and that was with Kentucky 98 Proof.

I wish there was a magic formula but I think this only happens through hard work and dedication to the craft of writing.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has purchased a copy of Undeniable.

You made my day!!

UNDENIABLE

With a summer storm threatening to ruin his Friday afternoon, Asa Burton packs his briefcase and bolts for home before the driving gets dangerous. On the interstate, stuck behind an accident, he regrets his decision until he sees Ford Weston standing along the side of the road talking to a police officer.

Ford Weston can’t believe his luck, bad and good. First, his car gets clipped on the tail end of an accident, and then none other than Asa Burton pulls over and offers him a ride home. Coming face-to-face with the biggest regret of his life leaves Ford off-balance. He’d screwed up with Asa all those years ago. It was his fault the relationship ended.

Asa can’t believe he’s found Ford again, so why is he angry with himself? Could it be because Ford walked out on him without a word seventeen years ago and he did nothing to stop him? Asa’s sure of only one thing – Fate just handed him the opportunity to win Ford back – and get some answers.

A Cat Named Hercules and My Sexy Saturday

May 17, 2014
**Updated 4/2/21 - the My Sexy Saturday blog hop has been closed.**

Thanks for stopping by Between the Keys for another week of My Sexy Saturday. MSS has been on hiatus but it's back and going strong! Be sure to check out all the participants by using the linky-list at the end of this post. Romance is for everyone!

Here's seven sexy paragraphs from A Cat Named Hercules. Oh - do you see the little fellow on the cover? No, no. THE CAT! That's my very own "Hercules" posing for his first  - and last - cover shot. Talk about a cat with a swelled head...

_*_*_*_*_

I gulped the last bit of liquid in my glass and followed him all the way to his Jeep. With his head lowered, I couldn’t tell if he realized I was behind him or not. When we got to his vehicle, he must have seen my reflection in the darkened window glass. He turned, his eyes black and wild with a mix of fear and longing. I closed the distance between us. Galen’s arms snaked their way around my neck. We stumbled hard against the side of his ride. His hold tightened, and I seized the opportunity and covered his mouth with mine.

I felt the shock go through him, but I didn’t back off. I couldn’t. His lips slid over mine as he opened to me, a low moan rolling out of him and into me. He was alive under my hands as I caressed down his backside. His scent was in every rapid breath I managed to take. My cock filled in a few pounding beats. I gripped his hips and flexed my pelvis to his, eager to learn if he was equally hard. Galen sucked in a breath and tore his mouth from mine.

“Shiloh. Shiloh, I have to leave.”

Hot frustration burned inside me, but quickly cooled. He wasn’t playing with me. The man shook violently in my arms. An uneasy realization dawned. I cradled the back of his head and pulled him closer.

“Shh. Lean on me, Gale. Just let me hold you for a second. It’s okay.” I rubbed his back. “Talk to me.”

He eased away from me. “I have to go. I thought I was ready for this, but I’m not.”

“If you want me, know this. I definitely want you.” I reached for him, but he planted his hand in the middle of my chest and kept me at arm’s length.

About the book:

New in town, Shiloh Rudy joins a group of civic-minded
volunteers to better acquaint himself with his recently adopted community. It’s a good way to make friends, network, and help make a difference, not to mention perhaps meet someone interesting  - in a romantic sort of way. The one thing Shiloh didn’t expect was a love to rival all others to come with four white paws.

Gale Widmyer is on his feet and moving forward after piecing his life back together following a series of wrong choices. In his darkest moments, the one bright spot in his existence was the fulfillment of his dream to become a veterinarian. Gale’s making good on a promise to himself when an abandoned kitten leads him to Shiloh Rudy and a chance at the happiness he never hoped to have.

Laying the cornerstone for a developing relationship comes easy for Shiloh and Gale. But the wounds of the past often remain unhealed at their deepest point. A few careless words erects a wall of silence between the two men, one Shiloh has to breach if he hopes to win Gale back. It will take more than apologies to win Gale’s forgiveness and put old fears to rest. It’ll take a cat named Hercules.

D is for Dogs I Have Known - KC Kendricks (2014 A to Z Blogging Challenge)

April 4, 2014

2014 A to Z Blogging Challenge
A Rural Life
Day 4

D is for Dogs I Have Known

We’ve made it to the first Friday in the 2014 A to Z Blogging Challenge! This year is all about my rural life with a little book promo tossed in at the end for good measure. Thanks for making a stop here at Between the Keys as part of your 2014 A to Z Blogging experience.

_*_*_*_*_*_

Only once in my life have I been without a dog. I’d lost a most beloved companion to Cushing’s disease and the thought of “replacing” him was unbearable. I suppose I took his loss harder than most because he was my companion for the seven years I lived alone. He was a pointer-hound mix, and very handsome with incredible yellow eyes that shone with bright intelligence.  In his prime, he was a muscular ninety pounds and when people asked if I was afraid of living alone, I laughed.

The dog who shares my life these days is an aging black Labrador Retriever. I got him as a pup and helped him develop every bad habit he has. In other words, he’s a bit spoiled. But he’s an excellent companion and if I had to choose between man and dog, it would be a close-run thing keeping in mind the dog doesn’t watch sports.  I grieve a little with each new gray hair on his muzzle.

Life has many seasons and looking back, each dog who has shared my life has given me their particular season. Rebel was my youth, and Reba my teenage years. Kelly saw the passing of my father and beautiful Raven with her long feathers my first home. Little Bogart taught me life is sometimes unfairly short, and poor Blackjack that some souls are so damaged that to set them free from pain and fear is the greatest gift you can give them.

I’ve loved all of them singularly for who they were, and I loved them all as Canis lupus familiaris. Each one was a unique individual as identifiable as “self” as any person. The day is coming (far too soon) when it will be time to make a home for another pup. I know while I won’t forget those dogs who came before this future bundle of joy, I’ll love the new one at least as much.

Has a dog ever been a character in a KC Kendricks book? Yes! Check out Ranger in Kentucky 98 Proof. He’s modeled on Cal, pictured above, and the best dog I ever had.

Again? Really? More snow?

December 9, 2013

Did the people at the Weather Channel draw a bullseye on western Maryland? Yesterday we had 5 1/2 inches of snow at my location, followed by what amounted to about an inch of ice forming on top of the white stuff. This morning, warmer air made it possible to get to work, but relief that this early December blow was past was short lived.

My once and future honey called me for the express purpose of telling me we might get up to another six inches of the white stuff tomorrow. Excuse me? Is this a joke? He does like to have fun at my expense, but he's not joking this time.

I'm trying to see the silver lining in the clouds, but I guess because I had to come to work today I'm too grouchy. I don't want to have a snow day dangled in front of me like the carrot in front of the donkey again. I want a damn guarantee!

So here's my bribe to the universe. Let me stay home tomorrow with my DSL intact and I'll finish my Christmas shopping online. It'll be good for the economy!

Passion's Victory makes for one My Sexy Saturday blog

November 2,  2013
**Updated 4/2/21 - the My Sexy Saturday blog hop has been discontinued.**

It's Saturday again and that means another My Sexy Saturday entry. I think this is great fun because it's taking me back into older stories and reuniting me with those characters. Today I'm going back almost to the beginning to Passion's Victory.

Be sure to read down to the My Sexy Saturday linky and visit the blogs listed. There's some great reading there!

In this scene, Micah comes home to find Jonas waiting on the front porch for him.

“Jonas,” I murmured against his smiling lips. “Talk to…” His tongue flicked to mine, cutting off my request for a moment of conversation.

Any of my neighbors watching were getting quite a sideshow. I shoved my hand in my pocket, fumbled my keys. They fell from my shaking fingers to the porch decking. Jonas pushed me back, breaking physical contact. I longed to see his eyes, to get some idea of what he thought, what he felt.

“Bend over and pick them up,” he said cheerfully as he rubbed my nipple. I stared at him and tried to catch my breath.

“Not in front of you, Chadwick. I know all about men like you.”

“Do you?” Something rough and dark in his voice gave me pause. What demon did he battle?

“I know enough.” I pushed him back against the side of the house, not with some little force. “Why did you come back?”

“I don’t know. Maybe to satisfy my curiosity.”

Passion's Victory by KC Kendricks - a 2008 CAPA nominee

Micah Souther is young, talented, and gay. As the junior owner of the family business, he knows better than to look for love “on the clock.”

Jonas Chadwick is the new guy at the firm. Older, wiser, and a survivor of the school of hard knocks, he’s not in the market for an office romance, even if he knew for certain his young boss were gay.

One kiss is all it takes to send them on a collision course, and when bodies collide, the friction gets hot.

Station to Station - My Sexy Saturday blog

October 19, 2013
**Updated 4/2/21 - the My Sexy Saturday blog hop has been discontinued.**

Welcome to week #21 of My Sexy Saturday. I'm a newer arrival to this weekly blog hop and I must say I'm enjoying it. It's introduced me to some new authors and expanded my circle in a very good way. Connecting with other writers isn't always easy even in this day of social media. Not meeting face-to-face changes the ways we make friends. It's not bad, just different. We're more open, and more cautious, all at the same time but it works.

This week, I'm showcasing seven paragraphs from Station to Station. Station to Station is set to release this weekend - yea! - so depending on when you read this, you may have to check back if you want a copy. (Update: Station to Station is now available.)

Station to Station is the seventh book in the Men of Marionville series. It had been a while since I visited Marionville and, well, I missed everyone so I decided to pick up the series again. So without further ado, here's seven sexy paragraphs from Station to Station.

==================
“My room is two blocks from here, Scott. Whataya say?”
My resolve to keep stupidity at bay wavered. Hell, it crumbled, and I was about to tread over the broken pieces of it on my way out the door to his place.
The letters awarding the bids were already in sealed envelopes in a locked drawer in the mayor’s office. How much flak could there be if someone found out Dakota and I had a little tryst? I nodded and saw victory flash in his eyes. I downed the last of my lukewarm coffee and pushed back from the table. “Let’s go.”
Dakota rose in an easy, unhurried motion and dropped a five-dollar bill on the table for a tip. “I like a man full of surprises.”
I’m not sure I did when I was that man. I motioned at the exit. “Lead on.”
Instead of heading out, he stepped in front of me and cupped the back of my neck. His mouth covered mine, and my skin heated in a wave. I licked his lips and they opened to me. His silky tongue slid over mine, and my cock swelled to an aching fullness in three throbbing heartbeats. My hands went to his hips, then I pulled him tight against me to let him feel how hard I was for him, but also to know if he was hard for me. His lips bowed under mine as he ended the kiss and rested his forehead to mine.
“That’s for you.”

My Sexy Saturday - The Back Stairs by KC Kendricks

October 12, 2013
**Updated 4/2/21 - the My Sexy Saturday blog hop has been discontinued.**

October is the perfect time for shapeshifters. And not just any shapeshifter, either. Sundown's people came from another world and walk among us undetected. Then Sundown meets Fallon, a cop, and takes a chance on having his true nature discovered. It goes against everything Sundown knows but he thinks Fallon is worth the risk. But first he has to convince Fallon he's not a male hooker - or a killer. Here's seven paragraphs from The Back Stairs, book one of the Sundown series.

*_*_*_*

What the hell was I doing? What if he were Internal Affairs working an undercover sting? Juny and I were not department favorites. We were more concerned with catching the bad guys than playing office politics. Sundown’s spooky green eyes sparkled with desire – and amusement.

“You’re very well hung, Lieutenant Roxbury.”

I snorted. “I thank my parents, every day, for such good genes.”

He stretched his hand over my full length, thumb at the base of my penis, his little finger extending past the tip. The little rip was measuring me. I wished he’d hurry up before I couldn’t wait any longer and took things into my own hands. Uneasy, I needed to get off and get out of here. Sundown batted his eyelashes at me.

“I like eight inch cocks. They’re perfect.”

“That’s eight and three-eights inches, if you please. It might even be all the way to eight and a half right now, so don’t shortchange me. And stop acting all coy and shy.”

“Please, Fallon. Let down your guard. What happens between us goes no further than these walls.”
