MSS #94- The Back Stairs by KC Kendricks

May 30, 2015
** Updated 4/2/21 - My Sexy Saturday was a weekly blog by a group of writing joining together for promotion. It ended in 2017.***

Welcome to the weekend and another My Sexy Saturday blog hop. I've begun work on a new Sundown and Fallon story so it seems right to revisit them at the beginning in The Back Stairs. When Sundown says Fallon doesn't know him, boy, is he right! But who expects to find a shapeshifter living downtown?

= = = = =
“Fallon, you do not know me at all. But someday, perhaps you will."

There I was, straddling him, my dick in my hand, and he wanted to play cryptic word games. What was the price of getting him on his belly with his ass in the air for me?

“What the hell does that mean? Never mind. Just roll over. I promise to cuff you to the bed and spank you next time.”

He snickered and pulled his knees up to his chest, thighs spread to show me everything he had. The rosy, full cock on his pale belly, the lobed sac with its smattering of hairs, the round tight rosebud—good grief, what a tempting display, and he knew it. Sundown smiled, his full lips bowed beneath a green gaze full of challenge.

“Take what I offer while you can.”

I conceded and agreed to momentary defeat. I wanted him, and he could have me any way he wanted to take me. My palm connected with his left buttock, hard. Sundown yelped, sounding for all the world just like a dog. I smacked him again, and he growled.

“You will cease that, Fallon, if you wish to continue.”

About The Back Stairs

Fallon Roxbury has a nose for trouble and the uncanny ability for landing in the middle of it the moment he finds it. While investigating the gruesome murder of a young male prostitute in the red-light district, Fallon gets a whiff of something very strange. Forensics has unidentified hairs. Very unidentified hairs, like nothing in any of the textbooks. Following a tip from a person of interest, Fallon meets Sundown, an apparent hustler who knows a lot more than he will admit.

Getting personally involved with Sundown breaks every rule in the police manual, and in Fallon’s own personal code. Sundown is like a drug, and Fallon can’t stop at just one hit. When Sundown is forced to reveal the truth, Fallon’s world is turned upside down, and he’s left with only two options: check himself in for psychiatric evaluation, or accept a new reality with a strange shift.

Shapeshifters, that is.

Moon Dances by KC Kendricks (MSS#90)

May 2, 2015
** Updated 4/2/21 - My Sexy Saturday was a weekly blog by a group of writing joining together for promotion. It ended in 2017.***

Having just completed the 2015 A to Z Blogging Challenge, you'd think I'd need a blogging break. Can't! It's Saturday and that means it's blog hop day. I can't let the My Sexy Saturday compatriots down. It's blog and tweet, babe.

Today it's seven sexy paragraphs from Moon Dances, book IV in the Sundown Saga. Here's a bonus for you - the entire KC catalog is 50% off at Amber Allure through 5/5/15. So scoot on over and get all of the shapeshifter Sundown at half price before it's too late and the regular price comes back.

Enjoy!
*_*_*_*

Because he expected it, I mumbled and grumbled while I shoved the covers to the foot of the bed. He hopped up and finished stripping. My shapeshifter wore a handsome skin for me and displayed a beautiful eight-inch cock to entice me to stimulate his pleasure receptors. Sundown landed beside me, bouncing on the firm mattress.
“You do tire of me. Your penis isn’t hard.”
I guided his hand to the organ in question. It swelled as soon as he touched it. “I’m only pacing myself, darling. Kiss me and see what happens.”
His eyes gleamed with amusement and a moment later his mouth covered mine. I licked his lips and he opened to me. Our arms and legs entangled as I rolled him beneath me and deepened the kiss.
I never knew what course our lovemaking would take until we got there. Today he’d taken me at my word I wanted to feel his lips on me. Sundown trailed kisses down my neck and chest, pausing to suckle at my nips, giving each one just a few seconds and leaving me to hope he’d find his way back and do it again. I reached for my dick and he stopped me, his strong fingers wrapping around my shaft with the perfect amount of pressure to drive me crazy. He stroked me a few times to satisfy my urges before he ran his hands over my backside. With a lazy twist of his lean body, he positioned himself to suck me.
The warmth of his mouth surrounded my dick as his tongue teased around the rim. I soared as he licked the underneath of the head. When he slipped a hand between my thighs to caress my sac, I reached for him.
To touch him. How could I describe touching the flowing silkiness of his skin? I was addicted to the way my fingertips glided over his body and the way his hands flowed over mine. We sought new ways to touch as we moved against each other, saying little save a whisper or a sigh to let the other know we liked something. When he flipped onto his belly and lifted his ass, I rolled to my knees, grasped his hips, and thrust into him. He warmed around my invading dick.

R is for Retirement (2015 A to Z Blogging Challenge)

April 21, 2015
Day 18

The 2015 A to Z Blogging Challenge
Many Sundry Things

R is for Retirement

_*_*_*_

I’m obsessed with retirement. Everything bit of forward planning I do is with retirement in mind.

The word “retirement” is actually a misnomer for many people including myself. I have no intention to “retire” and sit by the side of the road. The goal is a lifestyle change beginning the day I’m eligible to start drawing retirement funds. For me, being blessed with a traditional pension fund through my employer, that’s fifty-nine and a half. I fully intend to live my dream and become a full-time writer and Lady of the Manor. Until then, it’s one day at a time.

In May of 2014, my beloved took off for five days with his siblings while I stayed home to mind the wee beasties who reside with us. Our beloved old dog had health issues that prevented me from allowing him to stay with my parents. Those five days on my own were a slice of heaven on earth. I wrote over twelve thousand words in five days – plus walked, gardened, took care of the house, and visited my parents every day. Those days were a capsule of what I want my “retirement” to be.

May it be so.

Once again this year I have to do a little book promo along the way. You won’t know about my books if I don’t tell you about them, right?

R is for River Walk.

Detective Fallon Roxbury has a big problem. A twenty-year old cold case turned hot threatens to expose his secret - shapeshifters exist and they’re living in Montgomery Circle under his protection. Between a new witness and a group of fanatical alien watchers, Fallon’s scrambling to uphold the law and keep his promises intact. He already knows no power on earth can keep his shapeshifter lover from stepping into the mix.

Sundown has come into his own with his human lover by his side. Fallon is his compass, and shield, as he seeks to keep his Clan united and teach them most humans can be trusted. A catalyst, Sundown is rare among his kind, a descendant of heroes. The status of his Clan rests on him and he’s determined to see his people prosper on this world owned by humans - without the humans knowing shapeshifters walk among them.

Secrets have a way of being exposed. Fallon’s not the only one who knows about Sundown’s kind. A cop used to right and wrong being black and white, Fallon struggles to learn shades of gray. Their relationship is tested as Fallon and Sundown race against the clock to find a kidnapped shapeshifter before the Clan takes matters into their own hands.  Because if they fail, Fallon knows his lover will be forced to stand with his people and act against him.

Beneath Dark Stars by KC Kendricks for #MSS58

September 6, 2014
**Updated 4/2/21 - the My Sexy Saturday blog hop has been closed.**

Welcome to Between the Keys and another My Sexy Saturday! This week's MSS is about aliens and the "other worldly" worlds we all love. I met my first shapeshifter in 1969 -  Jorth in Moon of Three Rings, who was Krip Vorlund in barsk skin. I was captivated and fascinated.

Creating my very own shapeshifter was more fun than anyone is due. He's sexy, bratty, smart, irreverent and a prince among his people. He's Sundown and he found his perfect mate in Detective Fallon Roxbury.

Here are seven sexy paragraphs from Beneath Dark Stars (book two in the Sundown Saga).

= = = = = =
Sundown belly-flopped his way across the mattress and draped his leg over my thighs as his lips nuzzled below my ear. My hand was trapped beneath his torso, but I managed to work my fingers to his belly button. I almost expected it to vanish, but he maintained the illusion of having one.

“You have taught me much, Fallon.”

“I aim to please.” I wondered what he wanted that he felt the need to soften me up before he asked for it. I wiggled my hand lower until my fingertips grazed his cock. “Just remember you wear this skin for only me, Sundown.”

“I never forget.” He levered up on his elbow to kiss me. I cupped the back of his head with my free hand and licked his warm lips.

Sundown deepened the kiss, moving his lips over mine. His tongue teased mine with its silky heat, coaxing me to meet him in a mock battle for the lead. There was no way for either of us to lose.

I’d promised him a full-body massage, so it surprised me when he kept me pinned to the mattress and kissed his way to my nipples. He rarely topped unless I asked, but I knew he intended to fuck me. The need to have him sink into me, to abandon myself to the fierce pleasure of it at his hands, seized me.

Sundown’s body molded to mine, his shapeshifter skin flowing like some dry liquid against mine, stroking me all over without moving. I struggled to find breath amid the ever-sharper jolts of arousal slamming my system in rapid waves. He surrounded me with whisper soft caresses, which suddenly focused on my stiff cock.

More about Beneath Dark Stars:

Fallon Roxbury, seasoned detective and special police consultant, knows that appearances can be deceiving. Trained to gather the clues and arrive at logical conclusions, he fits the puzzles pieces of a situation together to find the truth. But there’s nothing reasonable in Fallon’s attraction to the sexy, secretive shapeshifter called Sundown.

Sundown has studied people all his life. Having his very own human male is all he ever wanted. In Fallon, he’s found a man he can trust with his secrets and reveal his true nature. Keeping Fallon happy is a joyful exercise Sundown puts his heart and soul into - when he’s not teasing Fallon’s police partner by leaving strange footprints at crime scenes, that is.

Fallon’s new case ties into an old one. At a dead end, he knows it’s time to ask Sundown for a little help. With his special abilities, Sundown can get into places Fallon can’t. All Fallon has to do is figure out a way to prove what he already knows. But what’s a cop to do when the truth takes a shift that’s stranger than fiction?

Moon Dances

May 3, 2014

If it's Saturday, it's time for a blog hop. This week it's the Seductive Studs and Sirens Blog Hop. Be sure to check out all the SS&S blogs.

About Moon Dances:

_*_*_*_*_

Sundown’s easy laughter lifted my spirits as we fell into step together. I didn’t have a destination in mind, just the joy of walking along the edge of the woods hand-in-hand with my lover. Tomorrow would be time enough to venture among the trees and search for my old haunts.

The boat dock was about a mile beyond our cabin, and we ended up walking down to the water’s edge. As luck would have it, there was also a weathered bench, so we sat shoulder-to-shoulder and watched the crescent moon rise over the lake. I rested my arm on the back of the bench, and he leaned closer. Mingled with smell of the water and pines was a rich sandalwood— the scent my lover produced when he wanted sex.

“You could sit on my lap, babe.”

Sundown bumped against me. “Are there not laws to forbid such exhibitions?”

"I doubt the fish will take pictures.” I unzipped my jeans.

Vacation. I wanted a quiet vacation. A private vacation. We were supposed to discuss how we wanted to spend our week off today, and one thing was non-negotiable – I wanted to be alone with Sundown. I’d already informed him “vacation” was a code word for copious amounts of both sex and sleep, and for that we needed privacy. Taking our time and lingering over breakfast was no longer an option. I had to do something - and fast!
It was time to run like hell before my much-needed vacation vanished like smoke. I threw the covers off and swung my feet out of the bed.
“Sundown, my love, it’s been grand, but I’m getting the fuck outta here.”
With the speed of a talented shapeshifter, Sundown suddenly stood before me, his expression halfway between panic and, well, panic.
“You’re not going anywhere without me, Special Consultant Lieutenant Fallon Roxbury. You will not leave me here alone! Not yet! Not until after the maturation!”
I stared up at him, an idea forming. His black brows drew together in a vee above his emerald green orbs before they shot upward. His strong fingers closed around my arms. Relief poured off him.
“You have a plan!”
I rolled my eyes at him. “Of course I have a plan. I’m a cop. I’m trained to examine all the evidence and choose the best option.”
“Which is…?”
I stood and rested my hands on his shoulders. “Run like the cowards we are. We’re going to get the fuck out of town for a few days starting now, while the caretakers deal with the nestling.”
Czun Dun Nhunfi, the pride of his Clan, went completely still and blinked twice. I knew that look too well. He was telepathic, and he’d just communicated with the Elders. His gaze refocused on mine.
“I will pack my things and stay at your apartment until we can leave.”
I burst out laughing. It was pitiful. One grown man and one grown shapeshifter fleeing a little glowball no bigger than a housecat. But as usual, Sundown had his own sense of logic, which he presented to me.
“You won’t laugh if Ozli decides to look like you. Nor will you like it if the nestling sneaks into our bed while I have you on your back making you howl with pleasure. It could mimic your pose and the sound you make, you know.”
I sobered - fast. “Get your pants on. I’ll help you pack.”
“I thought you’d see it my way, Lieutenant.”

B is for Bridges in the 2014 A to Z Blogging Challenge

April 2, 2014

2014 A to Z Blogging Challenge
A Rural Life
Day 2

B is for Bridges

Welcome to the 2014 A to Z Blogging Challenge! This is the fourth year I've participated in the challenge, and I’m all set to go. This year, 2014, is all about my rural life. It’s sort of like Walton’s Mountain meets the big city meets middle America. It’s my life and the forces that come together to make my unique world.

Will I do a little promo along the way? Absolutely! I'm a writer. I can’t blog if I cut out part of my life. So just like life this year will be a mix-up - a wonderful combination of this and that all rolled into one that may seem chaotic on the surface but blends together to create the whole package that is A Rural Life.

So thanks for coming along for the ride in the 2014 A to Z Blogging Challenge.

*_*_*_*_*

Bridges fascinate me with the duality of their nature. Maybe it’s because I’m a Gemini I see the past, present and future in a bridge.

Bridges call to me to move forward, to cross to the other side with the quiet promise they won’t let me fall as I take those fateful steps. And yet they remain, a link to the past and the path recently traveled. From the purely functional, most aesthetic blending of steel and art to the completely metaphorical, I love bridges.

Needing to find both witty and/or sentimental quotes about bridges, I turned to Google. Once there, it was a struggle to pull the gems from the rubbish. I wonder, as always, if the quotes are real and if they’re attributed to the correct person. Maybe I shouldn’t let it bog me down.

Maybe, if the words give a proper representation of bridges, I should be happy with that and cross the bridge over to tomorrow and the letter C.

Quotes

“The hardest thing in life is to know which bridge to cross and which to burn” - David Russell, Scottish classical guitarist

“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” - Jim Rohn, American Speaker and Author.

“Sometimes you get the best light from burning a bridge.” -Don Henley, founding member of Eagles

“We are told never to cross a bridge until we come to it, but this world is owned by men who have 'crossed bridges' in their imagination far ahead of the crowd.” - unknown

“What need the bridge be wider than the flood?” - Shakespeare

River Walk - KC Kendricks' My Sexy Saturday blog post

December 14, 2013
**Updated 4/2/21 - the My Sexy Saturday blog hop has been discontinued.**

Who doesn't like a mischievous shapeshifter?

For this My Sexy Saturday, I have seven "sexy" paragraphs from River Walk, in which Fallon and Sundown's relationship is tested by startling new facts about a cold case that has some bearing on how they met, a kidnapped nestling, and Sundown's jealousy over Fallon's new office assistant, Monte. Monte is straight and has a girlfriend, but Sundown doesn't understand how anyone wouldn't want Fallon. (It's a shapeshifter thing.)

I've enjoyed the Sundown series and am, in fact, working on the fourth installment this month and next. River Walk was a bit intense so the new one will be a bit more light-hearted. The cop and the shapeshifter will take a vacation together.

So without more rambling, here's a bit from River Walk for My Sexy Saturday. Be sure to check out all the blogs on the list below.

= = = = =

I wanted to say yes, but my inner voice, the smarter half of me, said he’d try and shadow me himself. “No. I know damn well you’d follow me around yourself. I won’t have you in danger trying to protect me.”

“You are wise, my beloved, and you know me well.”

I scrunched down under the covers, pulling him with me. “Try to remember you’re the one who said it. Now go to sleep.”

Sundown’s warm hand cupped the soft lump of my genitals. He sighed when nothing happened, but twice was all I could manage. “Do you dream of me, Fallon?”

“All the time, darling. Sometimes I spank you in my dreams.”

He laughed at my words and flipped over, his butt against my hip. I rolled onto my side and tucked him into the curve of my body. “Where do you go when you rest?”

Sundown was silent for so long I thought he’d declined to answer, but he finally did. “I go with you, Fallon, to be sure you dream of me and not Mon-tee.”

Dancing with my shapeshifter again

November 18, 2013

The last week morphed into a stretch of busy-ness that caught me off-guard. I don't mind being busy provided I'm accomplishing something. And I did!

Last Monday started out with the tree trimmers in the morning and Ender's Game in the late afternoon. Having read the book twenty odd years ago, I had to see this movie and I'm glad we went. Did the film makers stay true to the book? Pretty much, but I'm sure having read first enhanced the movie.

Tuesday it was back to work. I'm glad I had a blog pre-scheduled because it was full steam ahead on the WIP Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening. Friday - bowling. Saturday - cousin's dinner. And yes, I got the manuscript submitted. Whoo-hoo! I was happy. Sunday - take a deep breath.

So now I'm back on track at a more normal pace. I guess the good news is I didn't pull out too many hairs as the end of the Tales from the Garage story developed. No word yet when the Tales from the Garage PAX will be scheduled for release or even if the publisher will leave it as Tales from the Garage. I hope they do since that's what we all signed up for.

The next book in the shapeshifter series is underway. Both Fallon and Sundown, the main characters, say this part of their story needs to be a bit more light-hearted. They've weathered a few storms, this shapeshifter and his human lover, so I'll bow to their wishes. They're going on a vacation. Of course, Sundown, being Sundown, he's bound to find some mischief. He always does - and that's why everyone likes him.

My Sexy Saturday: Beneath Dark Stars by KC Kendricks

November 9, 2013
**Updated 4/2/21 - the My Sexy Saturday blog hop has been discontinued.**

Welcome once again to My Sexy Saturday! I hope you like shapeshifters. I know, I know - everyone likes shapeshifters! This week I have seven sexy paragraphs from Beneath Dark Stars, the sequel to The Back Stairs and the second book in the Sundown series.

Czun Dun Nhunfi  - Sundown to you and me since it's easier for us humans to pronounce - isn't your average shapeshifter. His people were brought to earth a thousand years ago as slaves but they freed themselves and prospered. Fast forward to Sundown and Lt. Fallon Roxbury meeting and falling in love and you have a cop trying to do his job and his shapeshifter helping in ways only he can.

I hope you'll enjoy this selection from Beneath Dark Stars.

=====
Sundown handed me a small tumbler of juice and tapped his water glass to mine. I sipped my drink, sputtering at the lack of alcoholic bite. “This is plain cranberry juice!”

He blinked, a slow, lazy lowering and raising of his eyelids that put me in mind of big cat causally watching its prey. “I did not want you to fall asleep too soon.”

The skin on my thighs and belly prickled. My cock pulsed and lengthened. “You’re just full of wants, aren’t you?"

“I have many, yes, and all will be accomplished in the proper time.”

“Boy, that sounds ominous for me, doesn’t it?” Actually, I liked the implications of him thinking about different things to do to me, and so did my dick. My erection completed.

Sundown lifted his glass, drained it, and set it aside. I took a healthy swig of mine and put it on the nightstand to finish later. I lifted the sheet and pointed at my hard on.

"Is it the proper time to do something with the little problem I have right there?"

R is for River Walk

It's All About the Books
2013 A to Z Blogging Challenge

Day 18
April 20, 2013

For this A to Z Blogging Challenge, I’ve been concentrating primarily on the books which leads us straight to R is for River Walk.

River Walk is the third installment in the Sundown series, and it cuts a wide path to delve into the Chal and their shrouded past. What are the Chal? The short answer is they are shapeshifters who have lived on Earth for at least a millennium. Where’d they come from? What are they doing here? Are they a threat to humans? River Walk touches on some of that as Fallon is forced to ask his Chal lover Sundown some hard questions.

Sundown gives up a few of his secrets in River Walk. Some he’s happy to finally be able to share with Fallon - others not so much. River Walk takes a serious turn but in the end shows the strength of Fallon’s relationship with the two most important beings in his life - his lover Sundown and his cop partner, Sgt. Juny Mack.

River Walk also shows the depth of Fallon’s commitment to protect Sundown and his people. Fallon is first and foremost a cop. “Protect and serve” are more than words to him, and he makes some hard choices to protect and serve both the humans and the Chal.

The saga of Fallon and Sundown has endless possibilities for the singular theme that love overcome all odds. I hope you’ll enjoy the series, beginning with The Back Stairs, then Beneath Dark Stars, and then River Walk. With any luck book four, Moon Dances, will be available late 2013 or early 2014.

RIVER WALK

Gay romance with paranormal shift

Book three of the Sundown series

INTRO

“So when do you teach me how to change shape?”

His eyebrows shot up to his hairline. “Fallon, wearing a different skin is not possible for you.” Sundown blinked rapidly, looking more and more shocked. “You would wish it?”

I shook my head. “No, I do not wish it for myself. It’s not normal for a human, Sundown. Come sit on the couch with me.”

I picked up my coffee cup and eased down on the brightly colored scarves covering his sofa. I loved his room with its red and gold brocades, bead curtains, and bright cloths. It made me nostalgic for the days of Woodstock even though I’d not been born until nine months after the Summer of Love changed the world. I lifted my arm and Sundown nestled in against my side.

“Are you angry with me, Fallon?”

Was I? Some inner knowledge assured me he’d not harmed me in any way.

“I’m concerned. That’s different. What happens if I get hurt and some doctor discovers weird little cells dancing around inside me?”

Sundown sipped his coffee. He licked his full lips and took another drink. He was trying to stall me in the hopes I’d ask something else and give him the opportunity to bypass giving me an answer. I wasn’t going to allow him to get away with such a ploy, not this time. I waited. Sundown finally sighed.

“It hasn’t happened yet, Fallon.”

His answer didn’t surprise me. The Chal used every means at their disposal to protect themselves and the clan, whether or not we humans would approve their actions.

“Here’s a news flash for you, lover. Forensic medicine has come a long way in a short time, and it’s possible today’s technology can detect those cells now.”

Sundown sat up straight and twisted to stare at me. I saw Czun Dun Nhunfi, the pride of his clan, before me. His quick intelligence absorbed the information, considered the ramifications, and developed options. I stroked his smooth cheek with my knuckles, and gave his words back to him, gently.

“It hasn’t happened yet, darling. How many humans have you done this to?”

His chin lifted. “You once accused me of using you as my science project. In this, you’re correct. The knowledge handed down to me said it was indeed possible to blend with a human in this way and thus know their thoughts. I needed to know if this were true.”

“You’re avoiding giving me a number, Czun Dun Nhunfi.”

“What was handed down said it was possible for those like me. My ancestors who were catalysts did this to gain knowledge of their captors. It is said without doing this, the Chal could not have escaped slavery on this world thousands of years ago.”

If the folks at SETI only knew how right they were – and how late they were to the game.

Six Sentence Sunday: Beneath Dark Stars

November 4, 2012

When I decided to create my shapeshifter, Sundown, I knew he would young-at-heart with a wide streak of mischief in his soul. I had to explain how his people got to Earth, how they blended in and how they survived. It was so much fun I'm currently working on the fourth book in the Sundown series!

This week's six sentences come from the second in the series, Beneath Dark Stars. There's a lot of things about humans Sundown is in the process of figuring out for himself. But he knows one thing for certain - Fallon is his. Of course, Fallon enjoys teasing Sundown from time-to-time.

His eyes flashed an angry red as his spine straightened. “This is a young man you must now work beside?”

“Don’t get excited, babe. He’s only a kid, a rookie, and Juny and I wi—.”

“How young? I will meet this boy and explain to him he would be in error to desire you
